OSDH APRNs Receive Ultrasound Training from Globally Acclaimed Trainer

The Okmulgee County Health Department hosted an ultrasound training for APRNs offering maternity services in county health departments. Trainers from Innovated Ultrasound in Nashville, TN traveled to Okmulgee to provide the training.

 While most students typically go to Nashville for training, due to a large group, the trainers came to Oklahoma. To date, Okmulgee is the only place, besides Nashville, where Innovated Ultrasound has conducted this training. Lead trainer, Diana Dowdy, helped conduct the training and is globally acclaimed for improving prenatal care quality in low-income regions and other areas lacking in trained providers.

“The biggest advantage of offering this training locally is that staff are trained on the equipment that we have. This year we offered a two-day training for new APRNs that were not trained last year and a refresher course for those previously trained that wanted to add additional skills,” said Jill Nobles-Botkin, APRN-CNM Administrative Program Manager for MCH. “This required a team effort to make this training possible and successful. The Maternal and Child Health program thanks the Okmulgee staff for their help in making this training a huge success.”
